“I visited Bhutan in April, 2005.  I had no idea what to expect, but I was very excited as the plane approached the Paro airport through the narrow valley.  

Anand Gartaula met me at the airport and drove me to the Paro festival.  I immediately knew this was going to be a trip of a lifetime.

Anand was the perfect tour guide.  The amount of knowledge Anand has about current events, points of interest and the history of Bhutan show that he loves his culture and his country.  We traveled together, along with my father and companion, for seven days.  On the last day, we hiked up to Tiger’s Lair and Anand was able to gain our entrance to the famous cave where Guru Rinpoche stood, subduing the demons who were preventing the spread of Buddhism in Bhutan. The myth tells us Guru Rinpoche flew on the back of a Tiger to this cave, and subdued the demons with a lightning bolt.  An imprint of his body is found in this cave, making the Tiger’s Lair one of the most sacred sites in Buddhism.

Our group was challenging for any tour guide. My father and his companion were 75 years old, and I was 42 and athletic.  He managed to organize our travels in such a way that each one of us could enjoy. I could not recommend more highly Anand and Himalayan Dream Destination”

Cultural life of the Kingdom

"I have now managed to get two trips into Bhutan and on both occasions I have used  Himalayan Dream Destination who provided us with impeccable organization and superb time whilst we were in Bhutan. On the first trip we managed to explore the Central and Eastern sectors of Bhutan learning about the religious and cultural life of the Kingdom. Whilst on our second visit we were able to complete a short Trek into the hills and villages away from the regular visited areas. This was a fantastic opportunity and one which we could not have completed without the friendly, efficient and wonderful help of the support team at Himalayan Dream Destination.

We hope one day to return to Bhutan for another visit and would not even think of going to any other company to help us organize our next trip I cannot recommend them too highly."

People in Bhutan are exceptionally warm, welcoming and engaging.  Bhutan has beautiful landscape, extraordinary culture, religion,  art, monasteries, temples, Dzongs, interesting villages and towns, inviting accommodations.  The peaceful nature of the people permeates the country.  It is a land of intense color and attending a festival is truly a privilege and an experience of a life time.  I cannot say enough about this remarkable country.  I hope to return in 2010”.
